GCHERA Board Meeting/General Assembly was held on Sept. 19 in NJAU

The GCHERA Board Meeting/General Assembly was held on Sept. 19 on the occasion of the GCHERA World Agriculture Prize Ceremony in NJAU, China. GCHERA President John KENNELLY, Vice President Ian MAW, ZHOU Guanghong, Secretary General Simon HEATH, Alim POLATOV(Central Asia and South Caucasus Consortium of Agricultural Universities for Development (CASCADE)), Bing SI(Association of Canadian Faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine(ACFAVM)), Carl LARSEN(Freelance Consultant from World Bank), Carolyn GLYNN(Association for European Life Science Universities (ICA)), Daniel SHERRARD(Asociación Mexicana de Educación Agríco la Superior (AMEAS)), David ACKER(Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities(APLU)), Elgasim Ali ELGASIM(Society of Arab Colleges of Agriculture (SACA)), Enrico SUPANGCO(Asian Association of Agricultural Colleges and Universities (AAACU)), Fernando Cezar JULIATTI(Brazilian Association for Higher Agricultural Education (ABEAS)), Hlamalani Judith NGWENYA(The Global Forum for Rural Advisory Services(GFRAS)), James Biu KUNG’U(African Network for Agriculture, Agroforestry and Natural Resources Education(ANAFE)), LIU Zhimmin(Education Professional Committee (EPC), of the Chinese Association of Agricultural Science Societies (CAASS) (EPC of CAASS))，Margaret LININGTON(South African Agriculture and Life Sciences Deans Association(SAALSDA)), Marina CHERBONNIER(Young Professionals for Agricultural Development(YPARD)), Moses OSIRU(Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM)),Richard HARPER(Australian Council of Deans of Agriculture (ACDA))，Riksh Pal SINGH(Indian Agricultural Universities Association(IAUA)), etc. participated the meeting.

The meeting approved the Minutes of the General Assembly & Board Meeting held on 21 October, 2014, and listened to the report from the president and secretary general. John KENNELLY, who accomplished his 2 years term of office as the president of GCHERA from 2013, was re-elected as the president of GCHERA.

On the meeting, Marina CHERBONNIER (YPARD) and Hlamalani NGWENYA(GFRAS) made presentations about their organizations and discussed the potential corporation opportunities between their organizations and GCHERA. The participants had an initial discussion on the development of GCHERA Action Plan 2016-2020 – identify the added value that GCHERA can bring globally and/or regionally to member higher education associations in support of their member universities in enhancing the delivery of well qualifies graduates.

The meeting reviewed the current GCHERA governance and agreed to remove the sub-organization level of the Board and arrange the Treasurer as a member of General Assembly and Steering Committee.

The meeting also reviewed the process and outcomes of GCHERA WAP 2015 and discussed the time& location of 2016-17 GCHERA WAP and World Dialogue. In the end, GCHERA president John KENNELLY expressed deep gratitude to NJAU president Zhou on supporting GCHERA WAP and hosting such a successful event.
