The 3rd GCHERA World Agriculture Prize Award Ceremony Held in Nanjing of China on Sept.20, 2015

The 3rd GCHERA World Agriculture Prize Award Ceremony was held in Nanjing Agricultural University (NJAU) of China on September 20, 2015. The ceremony attracted wide attention. Over 1000 faculties and students from NJAU, presidents of 10 high schools in Nanjing, representatives from over 90 universities, NGOs and enterprises in 27 countries attended the ceremony.
The Global Confederation of Higher Education Associations for Agricultural and Life Sciences (GCHERA) awarded the World Agriculture Prize 2015 to Professor R.Paul SINGH, a world-renowned food scientist and agricultural engineer. The award is in recognition of SINGH’s remarkable lifetime internationally renowned contributions to food engineering research, education, development, consulting, and technology transfer.
SHEN Qirong, Chairman of Academic Committee, NJAU, chaired the 3rd GCHERA World Agriculture Prize Award Ceremony and made a welcome speech. The Secretary General, Simon HEATH introduced the selection process of the 2015 GCHERA WAP Jury Committee and announced that this year’s winner was Professor R.Paul SINGH, a world-renowned food scientist and agricultural engineer. The President of GCHERA, John KENNELLY introduced the SINGH’s achievements in engaging in the mission of higher education institutions relating to the agricultural and life sciences. ZHOU Guanghong, the Vice-President of GCHERA and the President of NJAU, bestows the laureate’s certificate. KE Bingsheng, the President of China Agriculture University (CAU), awarded the laureate’s trophy. Professor PAN ZhongLi from UC Davis, as a student of Professor SINGH, presented flowers to the laureate. LIU Baoli, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Ministry of Education, also extended his congratulations to the laureate.
After the awarding, the 2015 GCHERA WAP Laureate Paul SINGH delivered a lecture on Innovation in Teaching - Challenges and Opportunities.
At the end of the Ceremony, Joseph JEN, former Deputy Minister of United States Department of Agriculture made comments on the contributions of Professor R.Paul Singh in education and how his achievements can inspire world’s agro-related faculties in pursing education innovations and reforms.
