- Sep 11, 2025

On September 10, 2025, Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU) and the Global Confederation of Higher Education Associations for Agricultural and Life Sciences (GCHERA) formally renewed their strategic partnership, marking a significant milestone in their decade-long collaboration. The online signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Understanding was attended by NAU President CHEN Fadi and GCHERA President Jose Zaglul, who signed on behalf of their respective institutions.

President CHEN Fadi highlighted the profound impact of the past ten years, during which World Agriculture Prize has served as a powerful catalyst for cooperation. He noted that the partnership has yielded remarkable results in interdisciplinary talent development, academic exchange, and support for young scholars. "This renewed agreement, the culmination of in-depth discussions, signals that our partnership has entered a new phase of maturity and stability," President CHEN stated. He expressed confidence that this next chapter will foster deeper collaboration in agricultural science and technology innovation, aligning with global development initiatives to build a community with a shared future for mankind.

President Zaglul commended NAU's pivotal role in advancing global agricultural education and sustainable development. Reflecting on the journey since the prize's inception in 2012, he praised the tangible achievements in fostering research collaboration and promoting South-South Cooperation. "This renewal solidifies our strategic alliance," President Zaglul affirmed. "It provides a more robust platform for us to collectively address pressing global issues, particularly food security and climate change."

This agreement is more than a renewal; it is a commitment to a shared vision. Guided by the principles of "openness, sharing, and mutual benefit," NAU and GCHERA will now focus on amplifying the influence of the World Agriculture Prize. Their joint efforts will aim to expand its global reach, with a special emphasis on supporting scientists from developing nations and inspiring the next generation of agricultural innovators. Furthermore, the two parties will co-host a series of premier international academic events, establishing a leading brand for agricultural exchange that serves as a global benchmark for sustainable development.
